LoüTeq - Solar Powered Structure on display during the America’s Cup Yacht Race in New York City, the America’s Cup Village highlighted BMW’s iSolar Engineered Bamboo Charging Structure by ReNüTeq where it converted solar energy to charge a BMW i8 and a BMW X5 xDrive40e hybrid.


The Solar Charging Structure is made out of SEB (Structural Engineered Bamboo), glass on glass solar panels and marine grade stainless steel to create a gorgeous, sustainable and functional structure. Designed by Luke Schuette an architect, founder, and CEO of LoüTeq.

Chris Whitney of Xt4 was instrumental in the program development, project management and on-site build of the structure, and worked directly with Tim Rittenhouse & Rob Healey of BMW NA to establish the solution. Without Chris's dedication to the completion of the project, it may not have been installed due to sub 40 degree temperatures, heavy rain, high winds and only 48 hours to complete.


LoüTeq is the only company in the world that has structural certifications for SEB (Structural Engineered Bamboo) for structural applications. BMW chose to work with LoüTeq's performance products do to the high performance in extreme conditions. Designed to withstand 200 mph hurricane winds and with stainless steel hardware the structure will not rust in Salt spray coastal conditions.

The LoüTeq "MoD" can be installed with out a foundation system and is stabilized with only Helical Anchors or epoxied bolts to secure the structure to a concrete parking slab. The structure is designed to handle up to 200 mph winds.
