Why SEB?

Structural Engineered Bamboo (SEB) is ideal for architectural grade applications because it delivers high structural performance with superior dimensional stability and thermal performance, while providing dramatically lower embodied carbon and fast, prefabricated install systems compared with steel or mass timber.

Performance and Stability:

SEB offers a modulus of elasticity over 4 million PSI and very high tensile strength, exceeding typical mass timber products and enabling strong, slender beams and columns for high-load environments like post and beam tower structures and complex dome structures.  Its laminated bamboo structure is more than 28% more dimensionally stable than mass timber in volatile moisture and temperature conditions, which is critical for tightly controlled structures where quality fit and finish is required.

Technology | History 

LoüTeq is the world leader in the technology and manufacturing of SEB (Structural Engineered Bamboo) with its research, product development, and initial testing dating back to 2003. In 2009 Luke Schuette, LoüTeq's founder added SEB (Structural Engineered Bamboo) into ASTM's 5456 and established the testing procedure resulting in its addition into the 2012 IBC (International Building Code) & ICC-ES's AC47. LoüTeq has also, as of (2017), implemented proprietary technology that focuses on optimizing the highest performance fiber of the culm utilizing the highest performance species of bamboo in the world:

Guadua sourced from Latin America is one of the largest bamboo species, and is also one of the fastest growing.  It is over 3 times stronger than the Asian bamboo species Moso, or any Mass Timber or Engineered Wood product, making LoüTeq's Architectural Grade SEB (Structural Engineered Bamboo) products the strongest renewable natural resource available for the building industry.  The specifically selected bamboo culms are then processed in LoüTeq's owned and operated facilities located in Latin America (Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica): Age Selection, Harvest, Drying, Exterior Grade Treatments.
